This September, London based Nostalgia of Mothership will launch their G & T Records imprint, with their debut EP – complete with remixes from The Carry Nation and Luke Solomon.
‘’Led by partners in crime Fi McCluskey and Josh Caffe, who met in the heart of the alternative east London dance scene, the band was formed through a mutual love of such varied influences as Funkedelic, N.E.R.D, The Isley Brothers and Janis Joplin. Long nights of writing and recording beneath the streets of Whitechapel with guitarist and producer Marc Hayward led to the group playing their first ever show at the infamous Block 9 area of Glastonbury 2015. With the line-up completed by vocalist Nadia Juma, drummer David Axford and touring bassist Dan Williams, Nostalgia Of Mothership set to work recording their ‘Beautiful Hell EP’.”
Three original tracks ‘I Dont Need You‘, ‘Gin & Tonic‘ and ‘Lipstick On The Bottle‘ serve as a great introduction to Nostalgia of Mothership. With a combination of grit, sleaze, funk, rock, sex and everything in between – these sound like they could come from someone’s discerning collection of 70’s vinyl, but with a 2017 production feel.
NOM could not have selected better artists to remix the package. First up is NYC heavyweights The Carry Nation, who take ‘I Don’t Need You’ and add their unique vibe – taking a downtempo funk track and bringing it straight to the peak hour dancefloor. While Luke Solomon adds his Classic Music Company flair to ‘Gin & Tonic’, equal parts classic disco, acid house, and raw grooves make this one a banger.
